Child Protection
and Youth Promotion

Activities

We are determined to build local child protection capacity amongst both civil society and institutions. We raise awareness of the fact that violence against children and the resulting stunted development constitute a direct obstacle to a country's overall development. We can play this role fully because we have built up our own skills. We have established local branches per region, made up of experts and professionals from the countries concerned, working to provide permanent support in close liaison with our partners.

Acting for Life seeks to enhance local resources that existed prior to the projects and to invest in leaders and anyone working for change and progress. Our main activities in this field consist of::

  • Designing, publishing and setting up ongoing, systemic training programmes and modules, for different groups of professionals with a role to play in the battle against the sexual exploitation of children: police, gendarmes, magistrates, social workers and NGO personnel, community and religious leaders, journalists, medical staff, companies, etc.
  • Creating and disseminating innovative tools in the fields of prevention, care, boosting resilience and rehabilitation of child victims: art therapy, mental health manual, self-protection and life skills, games, videos and educational animations, etc.
  • Supporting the organizational and institutional development of our partner NGOs (financial transparency, management training, organizational audits, etc.) as a way of considerably enhancing the long-term impact of their work in the field
  • Taking part in public awareness campaigns and targeted advocacy and lobbying activities, to foster the establishment of a social, political and legal environment conducive to child development;
  • Initiating and supporting networking between the different stakeholdersto facilitate (sectoral and geographical)synergies and complementarity; organizing workshops and trips to exchange skills and good practice; building on methodologies that have been proven to work.
