Principles
The work of the Child Protection and Youth Promotion desk of Acting for Life work involves striving resolutely to combat the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and adolescents. We work in partnership with the ECPAT International (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking in Children for Sexual Purposes) network, mainly in the specific area of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and we actively support the work of its international secretariat based in Bangkok.
We want to contribute to a world where every child can live in dignity, have confidence in the future and flourish, a world where children's basic rights are respected.
We believe in adopting a comprehensive approach, from prevention through to full social and professional reintegration. Our approach is systemic and holistic, always taking account of the overall context (cultural, political, economic, etc.) and considering the full human dimension (physical, psychological, intellectual, spiritual, cultural and social) of every child.
> A child’s journey through our projects
We usually operate in partnership with local associations, but can sometimes also – when this is unavoidable – work directly, responding to any issue connected with the sexual exploitation of children Acting for Life is involved in the following fields:
We take account of the extreme vulnerability of particular categories of children: street children, migrant or refugee children, child offenders, AIDS orphans, former child soldiers or children performing the worst kinds of work.
We tackle the issues of violence, drug addiction and socialization of child offending.
The Malamaal game: a board game created by our Indian team, SANJOG, intended for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18, dealing with issues relating to their protection, rights and duties and sexuality.
